Cold and intermittent compression are being combined to treat soft tissue injuries throughout the body, as well as for patients coming back from surgery (from speeding the healing of ankle sprains to recovering from ACL reconstruction and joint replacement). Learn the theory and practice behind the latest science as you see how this therapeutic combination is applied in the rehabilitation of common orthopedic diagnoses, including common training room and clinical treatment scenarios.

Instructor
Alan Tyson, PT, SCS, ATC-L, CSCS. Alan Tyson is the President of Architech Sports and Physical Therapy in North Carolina. He is a physical therapist board-certified as a sports clinical specialist, a certified athletic trainer, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He has worked with the Charlotte Knights (AAA affiliate of the MLB Chicago White Sox) and continues to serve as a consultant to the team, and is also a consultant with the NFL Carolina Panthers and USL Charlotte Eagles. Alan has spoken regionally and nationally on training topics about the foot and ankle, spine care, hip and knee rehabilitation, has developed two courses on the shoulder, and has written three books and developed specific training programs for the female athlete, baseball pitcher, and football players getting ready for the NFL combines. Alan is also an associate editor of the National Strength and Conditioning Journal, and currently does a weekly one-hour radio show “Health Headlines” on 1110AM WBT with Stacey Sims and Dr. Russ Greenfield.
